Support the machining operations for specific projects and support legacy programs along with maintaining the schedule for the machine/metal finish departments.  Coordinate the technical aspects of new programs and projects for a successful launch as measured by quality, delivery and financial targets.


  • Creates 3D geometry for use in numeric controlled programming.
  • Creates numeric controlled (NC) programs through use of computer aided machine (CAM) systems.
  • Assist in the design and manufacture of all necessary machining support gages and fixtures.
  • Assist in the Engineering Department’s support of the Company’s financial targets and goals.
  • Coordinate the technical aspects and assist the development of new programs and projects for a successful launch as measured by quality, delivery and financial targets.
  • Create detailed process documentation for all machined product/product families and train operators to documentation.
  • Stay current on new releases of C.A.M. software.
  • Revises or updates programs to meet engineering or production changes.
  • Works with other departments to answer questions that may arise on interpreting NC programs.
  • Maintains programs and files on C.A.M. computers and storage drives.
  • Additional duties as requested by management.


This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience

Associates/Bachelor’s degree in a technical field is preferable, a minimum three years’ experience of Computer Aided Manufacturing and Programming is required or a minimum three years’ experience of machine manufacturing and Multi Axis Mill and Lathe Machining Operations is required.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions form groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Technical Skills

  • Working knowledge of personal computer, keyboard, mouse and Microsoft office and windows file management
  • Mastercam (Version X6 and higher)
  • NX CAM (Version 9 or higher)
  • Vericut (Simulation software) experience desired
  • Multi-Axis Mill operating knowledge desired
  • Lathe Machining operating knowledge desired
  • Experience with setup sheets and tool libraries
  • Apply knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures including speed and feeds, tool selection, vendor libraries
  • Knowledge of technical drawing interpretation and GD&T desired
  • Knowledge of CNC machining and high precision machining


Certification in technical field is preferred.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
