Job Description

The Operations Manager is responsible for directing the manufacturing operations of a $50M value stream and for directing the manufacturing of quality products that are delivered on time to customer-required dates and within budget. Manufacturing will be completed in a safe and clean work environment. The position is accountable for achieving product cost targets, maintaining proper inventory levels, and a minimum overhead structure.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for providing accurate shipment forecasts and for operating within approved budget boundaries.Use Tecomet Business System (TBS) tools to drive continuous process improvements in productivity, quality, on-time delivery, cost savings and inventory reduction.Coordinate closely with Master Schedulers to insure production schedule is correct and to minimize production late list and ensure on time

  • Achieve product cost/margin forecasts while operating within all budgets.Meet the needs of a growing business by maintaining minimal inventory levels. Responsible for achieving operating performance targets and improvements including cost reductions, reduced cycle times, and reduced lead times.The Operations Manager is responsible for the maintenance of the facilities and the production equipment and for maintaining a clean safe work environment that is in compliance with all OSHA and EPA environmental regulations and guidelines.

  • Mentor and coach associates in a manner which meets the future needs of the business and annually preparing an HR plan to identify key contributors and areas of organizational and individual development.

  • Lead production startup processes for new product introduction utilizing manufacturing engineering resources. Drive lower product costs by reducing set up times, improving processes, and reducing cycle times.

  • Collaborate with Marketing Managers, Sales Managers and Customer Support to produce business forecast by product family on a monthly basis.Ongoing communication with the plant financial manager is expected in order to maximize operational profit.An associate in this position must focus on customer expectations, prevent problems, and strive for continuous improvement resulting in improved results for him/her-self and other employees

  • Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned by supervisor.

  • The role requires the above to be accomplished within Tecomet principles of continuous improvement, customer driven innovation and a win first culture, while meeting company financial and other performance metrics.

Qualification Requirements

Educational/Training Requirement:

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent experience required.Engineering major preferred.

  • Advanced business degree beneficial.

Experience:

  • 7 – 10 years’ experience in manufacturing management in a manufacturing environment, required

  • Medical device manufacturing experience, preferred.

  • Lean Tools experience (Kanban, Heijunka, 5S), preferred

  • Cellular manufacturing, process improvement, and new product introduction is required.

  • A strong commitment to safety, quality, and on-time delivery is required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Hands on and results driven

  • Experience in a machining environment

  • High mix / low volume medical industry

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Excellent data entry skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently and exercise judgment

  • Demonstrated change management leadership

  • Metrics driven
