Job Description

The Assembler position requires the operator to assemble medical instruments and their subassemblies following drawings and other written and verbal specifications.


  • Assembles plastic and metal components into medical devices using appropriate tooling and equipment, in accordance with approved manufacturing procedures.
  • Completes assigned jobs in accordance with production timelines.
  • Aligns components and assembles them together according to torque specifications.
  • Maintains accurate records/documentation related to quality, work in progress, test results, labor, and special projects.
  • Performs in-process quality checks on sub-assemblies and finished product.
  • Works with Production Supervisor and/or Engineers to resolve line issues and suggest improvements.
  • Notifies process/tool owner when tools/equipment are in need of maintenance.
  • Maintains clean work station.
  • Adheres to general safety rules, manufacturing procedures, company policies and procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and FDA regulations.
  • Performs additional operators per supervisor direction.
  • Trains and assists others as required.


  • Has basic mathematical and measurement skills (adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, understands fractions and decimals).
  • Able to communicate and interact professionally and constructively with the lead, supervisor and coworkers; to enhance teamwork and to foster positive working relationships.
  • Able to organize and segregate work.
  • Has manual dexterity to work with very small parts.
  • Detail oriented to correctly complete manufacturing paperwork.
  • Ability to follow and execute processes/directions.
  • Ability to read and write English in order to read and interpret manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to apply training to carry out instructions.


  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Two years related experience preferred.


Hand tools, presses, and fixtures.

This position requires walking, standing, sitting and communicating with others at least 1/3 of scheduled hours. It also involves reaching and using hands and fingers to operator tools and measuring instruments. Occasionally requires lifting of up to 50 pounds (under 1/3 of the time). Must have adequate dexterity with hands and be able to work in small areas.


The operator must be able to read small print (6-12 inch font), with or without vision aides.

The noise level in the work environment is usually noisy and presents a hazard from possible projectiles requiring adequate safety items be used.  Example:  safety goggles, earplugs, safety shoes.  Machinery safety guards and switches must always be used in accordance to machinery manufactures specifications.


The operator is exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals 1/2 of the time.
