POSITION SUMMARY

Produce a quality product per print as assigned while under the supervision of an assigned trainer. The individual must rely on ongoing experience and judgment to accomplish goals with some degree of independence and initiative to complete job requirements in a timely manner.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITES

  • Operate assigned equipment to produce quality products per print.
  • Inspect product and document data as required.
  • Perform additional operations to product as time allows.

  • Maintain accurate data for company organizational records.
  • Organize and keep work area clean.
  • Complete paperwork accurately in accordance with quality system requirements
  • Perform basic daily machine maintenance.
  • Complete assigned duties to maintain company records.
  • Performs other related duties as directed or required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Basic math skills.
  • Basic understanding of blue print reading
  • Basic understanding of measuring equipment (micrometer, caliper)
  • Basic computer skills
  • Basic understanding of CNC machine tool operation preferred
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing shop safety
  • Basic understanding of CNC offsets and operation preferred
  • Must be able to complete task in a timely manner
  • Must be detail oriented with an emphasis on accuracy.
  • Must be able to multi-task.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certificate of training in CNC machining or equivalent job experience preferred

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED  

Requires a working knowledge of calipers, micrometers, indicators, wrenches and multiple other tools to perform inspection. Also requires knowledge of alignments and basic preventative maintenance of machine shop equipment and periphery equipment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires walking, sitting, communicating with others at least 1/3 of scheduled hours.

It also involves reaching and using hands and fingers to operate measuring instruments and machinery.  Occasionally requires lifting of up to 50 pounds (under 1/3 of the time).  Must have adequate dexterity with hands and able to work in small areas.

VISION REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to read small print (6-12 font) with or without vision aides. The operator is occasionally required to view items at 20 inches or less, with or without vision aides.

  • Less than 90 decibels (TWA).
  • Requires wearing safety glasses, earplugs (optional) and safety shoes.

HAZARDS

  • Work near moving mechanical parts over 2/3 of the time. 
  • Exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals under 1/3 of the time.
  • Exposed to potential hazard from possible projectiles.
