Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

CNC Machinist will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC machine tools, checking processed work against job specifications and making sure all parts meet customer expectations and Tecomet Standard Operating Procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to operate CNC machines within specified tolerances in accordance with machine programs and engineering drawings.
  • Maintain clean, orderly and safe working conditions and performs all duties in accordance with established Good Manufacturing Procedures (GMP) guidelines.
  • Record all activities in a timely manner on the job tracking system.
  • Loads material, blanks or semi-finished components into machines.
  • Performs component in-process inspection utilizing blueprint and inspection sheets.
  • Ability to utilize inspection equipment with training and assistance.
  • Notify supervisory staff of any discrepancy associated with quality, quantity or safety.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:

  • Must be able to work from drawings, prints, layouts, and verbal instructions from Supervisor or Team Lead.
  • Ability to work with various machines such as milling, lathes, grinders, gauges and precision measuring tools, hand tools, finishing tools and related tools and equipment.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to safety standards.
  • Listening, verbal, and written communication skills.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • High school degree or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Associates degree or 1 to 3 years of applied trade school training is preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of factory-related experience.
  • Must be able to read and interpret mechanical drawings, follow routers, use basic math to perform calculations, and use hand held measuring tools.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Some positions are situated in an office environment.  For those positions they routinely use standard office equipment which may include computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. 
  • Workers exposed to the production floor could be frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration, and moderate to loud noise conditions.
  • Well lighted, heated/or air-conditioned indoor office/production setting with adequate ventilation.
