Job Description


Performs machinery design functions related to the processing of customer orders, based on product / customer requirements, and as directed by the Engineering Manager.  Provides support to manufacturing facility on equipment, process, and technical issues.


  • Perform engineering calculations and develop designs to support Forge-CNC fixtures, dies, etc.
  • Calculate die cavity volumes for thermal expansion, finish, and dimensional values.
  • Design forge tooling and fixtures
  • Resolve manufacturing difficulties to include forging, machining and surface finishing issues
  • Evaluate scope of project and determine best design approach in conjunction with Engineering Manager.
  • Review engineering drawings, models, work orders, and other documentation for conformance to established production criteria with regard to materials, parts, and equipment, initiate requests for changes to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Interacts with customers or a project manager, to establish design input criteria.  Complete and submits final designs and prototypes to customer for approval.
  • Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract requirements, quality management system and related specifications.
  • Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications, and drawing releases after consulting with required personnel.
  • Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems. Directs integration of technical activities and products.
  • Provide manufacturing liaison to shop operations involving designed dies/tooling.
  • Resolve manufacturing problems or assist in overcoming difficulties.


  • Proficiency using CAD modeling and drafting – Unigraphic NX preferred
  • Detail Oriented, ability to problem solve, implement process improvements, and perform detail-oriented work 
  • GD&T experience for high precision medical or aerospace
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience in machining environment required 
  • Ability to coordinate activities concerning technical developments, scheduling, and resolving design and test problems.
  • Ability to direct integration of technical activities and products.
  • Ability to design for manufacturing  of  products on CNC machinery
  • Validation experience a plus
  • Experience working with customers, sales, or engineering is preferred.


  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year University preferred; or 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and design experience in a manufacturing environment.


  • Light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of a primarily administrative nature.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to maneuver throughout the facility/facilities as needed.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with fingers.
  • Ability to wear proper PPE
