Job Description

Performs human resource related functions at a professional level.  Requires an extremely perceptive person who is capable of relating to individuals at all levels within the organization.  This position must be sensitive to employee good will as well as the business needs of Tecomet. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas:  benefits administration, recruitment/employment, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, affirmative action and employment law compliance.  This is accomplished by maintaining Tecomet’s principles of Safety, Quality, Customer Satisfaction and Innovations.


  • Performs benefits administration including:  communicating benefits information to employees, reviewing benefits with employees and processing enrollment, cancellation or changes.
  • Conducts recruitment efforts for all exempt and nonexempt employees. 
  • Maintains all employee and applicant documentation as dictated by governing agencies.
  • Handles employee relations counseling, including Employee Assistance Program options and exit interviewing.
  • Coaches, counsels and guides managers/team leads before executing employee disciplinary actions.
  • Distributes and monitors employees’ performance evaluations.
  • Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions and results of department in relation to established goals.  Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
  • Maintains and coordinates employee recognition programs and company-wide employee events.
  • Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
  • Has a working knowledge and understanding of Lean principles and tools.
  • Applies all knowledge of 5S to his/her area and the department.
  • Additional functions and requirements may be assigned by management as deemed appropriate.


  • Possesses a strong background in benefit programs and/or recruitment.
  • Ability to handle all situations in a consistent, professional and confidential manner.
  • Knowledge of Human Resource procedures, policies, and legislation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects.
  • Possesses the ability to define problems, evaluate situations and draw valid conclusions.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills dealing with a variety of people.
  • Able to communicate respectfully with others and work in a team environment.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills.
  • Must be self-motivated; able to work with little supervision.
  • Computer skills in Windows environment and HR tracking systems.
  • Possesses verbal, written communication, and listening skills.
  • Able to maintain good attendance per requirements in the employee handbook.
  • Meet goals and objectives set by manager.
  • Able to travel if requested.


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of experience.
  • Three to five years of Human Resource generalist experience.
  • PHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred
