Job Description



SUMMARY

Ensures product acceptability by monitoring conformance to designated standards by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs visual and dimensional first piece sample inspections of parts.
  • Performs periodic inspection checks as parts are produced.
  • Determines product acceptability by comparing to internal and external criteria (prints, quality plans, etc.)
  • Documents results of inspections.
  • Monitors process controls for compliance.
  • Additional duties as requested by management.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and quality plans.
  • Use and knowledge of inspection equipment such as calipers, micrometers, CMM, height gages, and comparators.
  • General knowledge of customer specifications and standards, and certifications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Good verbal and written skills.
  • Proven organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to remain flexible to changing schedules and demands.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be professional, proactive and positive, with internal and external customers and coworkers.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 



EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED, and three to six months related experience.  Must successfully complete all required quality trainings.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL ABILITIES

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes and airborne particles.
