Job Description


The Lean Coordinator is responsible for identifying, coordinating and implementing continuous improvement activities, championing change and being a resource for lean improvement techniques. This position will assist the team to achieve the planned goals of Safety, Compliance, Quality, Delivery and Cost.


  • Assist with the training and Lean concepts to the plant.  Must work closely with, and assist as needed, other managers within the site to ensure program effectiveness and approach in making improvements.
  • Audit Lean processes post improvement activities and ensure actions are being completed
  • Will use Lean tools and concepts as the methodology for significant, effective, measurable and sustainable improvements.
  • Lead projects and coordinate team activities, as assigned, to complete company goals and initiatives.
  • Facilitate and manage Lean activities, ensure on-time completion and report results and make updates to area Lean boards.
  • Implements communication tools to foster the lean environment and improve a lean culture.
  • Will train Lean principles to associates on the floor.
  • Lead improvements in on time delivery metrics while reducing costs and inventory.
  • Lead Kaizen events from inception through tracking measurement
  • Increase visuals within the plant and facilitating flow
  • Update and maintain plant layouts


  • Knowledge of Lean methods (related practices and procedures), principles and practices of operations improvement.
  • Strong desire to learn and grow in Lean Methodology.
  • Demonstrated success in leading and sustaining change using Lean methods.
  • Proven facilitation skills and ability to energize others to productive action. 
  • Must be able to work closely with others to collaborate on completion of common goals.
  • Strong people skills.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excel in fast paced, high pressure situations.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects, to prioritize work tasks and maintain focus.

  • Familiar with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint)


  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Previous experience of 3-5 years working in a Lean environment, in a lean leader position or continuous improvement role, is preferred.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; stoop, kneel, crouch; talk or hear; and taste or smell.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee maybe exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The employee maybe exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the production work environment is usually moderate.
