Job Description

Demonstrate established knowledge and skill in performing set-ups and operating machines on new or repetitive jobs. Specialized understanding and skill requires performing more complex machine set-up and adjustments and figuring out how to run unusual parts.  This is accomplished by maintaining Tecomet’s  principles of Safety, Quality, Customer Satisfaction and Innovation.

   

Harmonized core technical skills:


•   Intermediate Math


•   Blueprint


•   CNC


•   Machine control


•   Machine setup / adjustments


•   Standard measuring


•   Tooling

Harmonized core education and experience:


•   High school  diploma or equivalent  or


•   3- 4 year of CNC fabricating  machining experience and/or training


•   Or combination of education and/or experience. 

Preferred:


•   1 year certificate from College

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


•         Ability to set-up, adjusts, and operates all basic machine tools within the process team to perform precision machining process/operations under limited direction of Process Engineer Technician.


•         Produce product after optimization process has taken place and complete to yield acceptable safety, quality, schedule and cost guidelines.


•         Ability to interpret CMM readings only asking for assistance from Processing Engineering Technician or Engineer when in doubt of action required.

  • Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures.


•         Keep organized and thorough notes of machine settings and production specifications.

  • Ability to adjust machine feed and speed, change cutting tools, or adjust machine controls when automatic programming is faulty or if machines malfunction after communicating with Process Engineer Technician.
  • Listen to machines during operation in order to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration.  Adjust to compensate for problems after communicating with Process Engineer Technician.
  • Mentors Process Intern.
  • Additional functions and requirements may be assigned by supervisor/Manager as deemed appropriate.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


•         Ability to read and interpret complex drawings and work instructions.


•         Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Demonstrates use of intermediate computer operations and intermediate software packages.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • This position offers motivation and feedback of assigned tasks to Process Intern.

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

This position has moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily product/technical nature.


•         The following physical/environmental demands could occur up to two-thirds of the time:

o    Standing; walking; manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with fingers.

o    Ability to bend and lift, loading and unloading work pieces into the machine or moving from one workstation to another.


•                                             The following physical/environmental demands occur from one-third up to two-thirds of the time:

o    Ability to lift and carry objects up to 25 lbs throughout the shift of work or to other production areas.

o    Ability to perform repetitive work more than 8 hours per day and weekend.

o    Ability to judge depth and distance.

o    Ability to read fine print (corrected) and distinguish color.

o    Ability to reach machine controls five feet above the floor.

o    Ability to wear proper PPE.


•         This position has the following work environment conditions:

o     Works near or with moving mechanical parts up to two-thirds of the working time.

o    Has moderate to loud noise conditions.
