Job Description

Receive, unpack, verify, and store raw materials.  Issue raw material to job routers and deliver to appropriate work areas.  Maintain movement of subcontract production parts returning from vendors.  This is accomplished by maintaining Tecomet's principles of Safety, Quality, Customer Satisfaction and Innovation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Receive raw material and out-vend production parts and enter receipt into computer.
  • Receive delivery of UPS, Fed-Ex and other transportation carriers and document receipt in computer.
  • Issue raw material to specific job routers and deliver to specific production unit.  Document receipt in computer.
  • Perform weekly cycle-counting to ensure material counts are correct.
  • Deliver received items to specific areas or people within the manufacturing plant.
  • May be relied upon to operate company van to make local delivery of materials/parts.
  • Additional functions and requirements may be assigned by supervisor/manager as deemed appropriate.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Abilities to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
  • Must work with a high rate of accuracy and assist with weekly cycle counting.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Intermediate personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, and routine database activity.
  • Routine duties are performed with minimal supervision; standard practices or procedures allow this position to proceed alone at routine work.
  • Certified fork lift driver.
  • Ability to comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures and report all unsafe activities to immediate supervisor.
  •  Ability to wear proper PPE.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or general education degree; and one to three months of related work experience.

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

This position has moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily product/technical nature.

  • The following physical/environmental demands could occur up to two-thirds of the time:
  • Standing; walking; manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with fingers.
  • Ability to bend and lift, loading and unloading work pieces into the machine or moving from one workstation to another.
  • The following physical/environmental demands occur from one-third up to two-thirds of the time:
  • Ability to lift and carry objects up to 25 lbs throughout the shift of work or to other production areas.
  • Ability to perform repetitive work more than 8 hours per day and weekend.
  • Ability to judge depth and distance.
  • Ability to read fine print and distinguish color.
  • Ability to reach machine controls five feet above the floor.
  • Ability to wear proper PPE.
  • This position has the following work environment conditions:
  •  Works near or with moving mechanical parts up to two-thirds of the working time.
  • Has moderate to loud noise conditions.
