POSITION SUMMARY

The Production Supervisor will be responsible for production flow through operations.  The production Supervisor plans and assigns work, sets and monitors expectations, implements policies and procedures, and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.  This person also ensures training and development of all employees and monitors performance to expectations.

  PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITES

  • Ensures environmental, health, safety and related process procedures are adhered to by self and direct reports.

  • Supervises the production activities to achieve customer satisfaction and attainment of production schedules, lead and delivery times.

  • Meet withshift team twice a week and review scrap, on time delivery, department lates, and Gemba Board metrics.

  • Monitors Factory-Wiz to improve OEE, Enforces tablet use on the shop floor to ensure data collection. Makes corrections for missed entries, and reports findings.

  • Completes annual and other employee reviews.

  • Maintains Win SPC to ensure quality at work centers.

  • Plans and leads production activities and established production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.

  • Monitors cut off dispatch list and drops jobs to respective departments for machining along with printing work orders and shop paperwork.

  • Ensures shop paperwork is complete and accurate.

  • Enforces running of jobs to department dispatch list, makes sure operators are signed into orders being worked on, and noting production issues on department dispatch list.

  • Sets and communicates clear expectations for team leads daily.These expectations include rate, quality, set-up time, performance to standard work and documentation of production.

  • Provides feedback on how employees are progressing toward meeting the established goals.

  • Investigates and determines root causes, and corrective actions.

  • Leads continuous improvement projects (5S, elimination of waste, standardize work, cost reduction) while striving toward a lean operation.

  • Ensures that all employees (including self) are following GMPs and are auditable at all times.

  • Attends and actively participates in customer visits, customer audits and corporate guest visits.

  • Leads discussions with team leaders to review production activity, operational issues, waste/scrap, and quality data to determine root cause, course of action to achieve goals, and potential improvements in process.

  • Collaborates with pertinent departments and plant leadership to establish production, quality and cost control standards, production, product and staffing scheduling, and assist in budget preparation and monitoring.

  • Coordinates production activities with purchasing, maintenance, materials, engineering and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of people resources, machines and equipment.

  • Provides data and analysis on production, quality control, maintenance, and operational issues to determine root cause of nonconformity with product specifications, operating or production problems.

  • Performs activities necessary for the effective management of employees including: selection, development, mentoring, coaching, motivation, recognition and counseling of employees; implementation of organization goals and objectives; and planning, organizing, integrating, and measuring the work performed.

  • Maintains the professional competence, knowledge, and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.

  • Ensures compliance with all plant, corporate, local, state, and federal policies and regulations.

  • Monitors perishable supplies and tooling to assure productions schedules are not delayed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned or necessitated by business conditions or changes.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Must be versatile in areas of production, quality standards, company policies and procedures as well as ISO/FDA guidelines and regulations.

  • Background in machining strongly preferred.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing with all levels.

  • Interpersonal skills (relationship building, teamwork, interpersonal insight, conflict resolution, customer orientation).

  • Strong leadership ability to drive for results (team development, ability to influence).

  • People development (assessment of others, feedback/coaching, delegation, motivating others, performance management, communicating expectations).

  • Ability to make decisions using judgment and problem solving.

  • Performance skills (accuracy with detail, planning and organizing, efficiency).

  • Proficient personal computer and system software skills to accomplish word processing, worksheets, and production control systems.Working competence with personal computers including MS/Windows, Excel, Word and an ability to learn other MS/Windows-based applications and timekeeping system.

  • Flexibility in working schedule is required due to the expectations and variety of workloads and the team’s work schedules.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • A.S. or B.S. or equivalent experience with minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.

  • 5 years of experience in manufacturing operations.

  • Previous supervisory experience is required.

This position requires walking, sitting, communicating with others at least 1/3 of scheduled hours.

It also involves reaching and using hands and fingers to operate measuring instruments and machinery.  Occasionally requires lifting of up to 50 pounds (under 1/3 of the time).  Must have adequate dexterity with hands and able to work in small areas.

VISION REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to read small print (6-12 font) with or without vision aides. The employee is occasionally required to view items at 20 inches or less, with or without vision aides.
