Job Description

The TNCO Production Supervisor will work closely with the Customer Focus Team, TNCO Planner/Buyer as well as the production team in order to meet customer deliveries. This position will be responsible for production flow through operations by the use of the dispatch lists and customer requirements. The Production Supervisor will work with the TNCO Planner/Buyer to effectively plan and assign work in the TNCO Cell. This person will set and monitor expectations, implement policies and procedures and recommend improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.  This person also ensures training and development of all TNCO production employees and monitors performance to expectations. This position will also assist in the transfer and start- up of manufacturing of medical instruments to the Kenosha facility.


  • Ensures SQDIP boards are updated and use gemba boards to communicate any gap in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Productivity.
  • Ensures environmental, health, safety and related process procedures are adhered to by self and direct reports.
  • Supervises the production activities to achieve customer satisfaction and attainment of production schedules and delivery times.
  • Provides team leadership through development of line leads, motivating team to achieve departmental goals, driving communication, holding team accountable to plant policies, helping to develop cross training plans and productivity plans to meet direct labor goals.  See problems as opportunities and reacts.
  • Supervises as well as participates in the production activities to achieve customer satisfaction and attainment of production schedules and delivery times for the TNCO Business Unit.
  • Plans and leads production activities and established production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
  • Sets and communicates clear expectations for the TNCO Team on a daily basis.  These expectations include:  rate, quality, set-up time, performance to standard work, and documentation of production.
  • Investigates and determines root causes, and corrective actions.
  • Leads continuous improvement projects (5S, elimination of waste, standardize work, cost reduction) while striving toward a lean operation.
  • Ensures that all employees (including self) are following GMPs and are auditable at all times.
  • Attends and actively participates in customer visits, customer audits and corporate guest visits.
  • Leads discussions with the TNCO Team to review production activity, operational issues, waste/scrap, and quality data to determine root cause, course of action to achieve goals, and potential improvements in process.
  • Collaborates with pertinent departments and plant leadership to establish production, quality and cost control standards, production, product and staffing scheduling, and assist in budget preparation and monitoring.
  • Coordinates production activities with planning, purchasing, maintenance, materials, engineering and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines and equipment.
  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by working with Maintenance department to resolve problems; evaluates new equipment and techniques.
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Provides data and analysis on production, quality control, maintenance, and operational issues to determine root cause of nonconformity with product specifications, operating or production problems.
  • Performs activities necessary for the effective management of the TNCO Cell including: provision for the selection, development, motivation, recognition and counseling of employees; implementation of organization goals and objectives; and planning, organizing, integrating, and measuring the work performed.
  • Provides feedback on how employees are progressing toward meeting the established goals.
  • Maintains the professional competence, knowledge, and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
  • Ensures environmental, health, safety and related process procedures are adhered to by self and direct reports.
  • Ensures compliance with all plant, corporate, local, state, and federal policies and regulations.
  • Monitors perishable supplies and tooling to assure productions schedules are not delayed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or necessitated by business conditions or changes.


  • Must be versatile in areas of production, including CNC programming and machining, Assembly, Quality standards, company policies and procedures as well as ISO/FDA guidelines and regulations.  
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing with all levels.

  • AS or B.S. or equivalent experience required.
  • 5+ years of experience in comparable manufacturing operations required.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience in Product Line transfers preferred.
  • Experience in CNC Programming and machine set-ups preferred.
  • Experience in Capital Equipment procurement preferred.

This position requires walking, sitting, communicating with others at least 1/3 of scheduled hours.

It also involves reaching and using hands and fingers to operate measuring instruments and machinery.  Occasionally requires lifting of up to 50 pounds (under 1/3 of the time).  Must have adequate dexterity with hands and able to work in small areas.


Must be able to read small print (6-12 font) with or without vision aides. The operator is occasionally required to view items at 20 inches or less, with or without vision aides.
