Job summary

Under the direction of the Quality Manager, maintains the Quality system as directed.  Main responsibility for the Quality Inspector lead-CMM Technician is the growth and continuous improvement of technical capability at Tecomet.  Inspectors at this level need very little direct supervision and will work with quality engineers at a peer level.  Guidance is typically at the level of overall goal definition and specific work objectives. 

Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for understanding the Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Knows and follows all safety requirements
  • Inspection of parts - CMM inspections, first articles, in-process & final inspections
  • Acts as a champion for non-conformances found in the inspection lab
  • Maintains calibration status and schedule for CMM support
  • Training of production personnel – probe qualification/qualification troubleshooting, consumable replacement & CMM maintenance
  • Develops & implements solutions to problems found in production CMM systems
  • Manages logistics and Kanban for production CMM consumables
  • Expert at using a variety of precision measurement instruments and electronic devices
  • Expert at blueprint reading and GD&T callouts
  • Ability to apply intermediate math skills and concepts
  • Maintain clear and accurate documentation and inspection records
  • Identify and evaluate new inspection processes
  • Sustaining manufacturing processes
  • Shift changes or schedule adjustments may be subject to change with notice
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Minimum job requirements

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required. 
  • 4+ years in a Quality Inspector position or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Working knowledge of EN ISO 13485 preferred.
  • 4+ years’ experience using and maintaining CMM equipment and programs
  • Lead quality inspectors and others in the development of inspection techniques and new technologies.
  • Support the ongoing performance evaluation process of junior inspectors
  • Mentoring, coaching and training of junior inspectors
  • Occasional supervisory tasks such as establishing priorities in the quality lab
  • Identify emerging technologies and evaluate for use at Tecomet.
  • Focus on cost reduction and process improvement
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with internal staff
