SENIOR PLANNER

Department:    Production Control

Reports To:     Planning Manager

FLSA Status:   Exempt

Revised Date: 01.18

SUMMARY

Plans and schedules product to meet customer requirements, and acts as customer liaison for the company by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Responsible for production planning and capacity planning.
  • Manage forecasted product as required by customer needs, including VMI and KANBAN programs.
  • Develop, implement, and support planning improvements to achieve cost reductions, quality improvement, productivity increases, and inventory integrity.
  • Reporting of inventory and schedules to meet customer requirements and expectations.
  • Perform problem solving, corrective action and process decisions.
  • Communicate and coordinate production planning activities with other departments.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of production projects.
  • Coordinate outsource activities with Logistics as required to support the production plan.        
  • Coordinate planning activities to production floor through assigned Scheduler.                                                                                                                   
  • Visit vendor/customer sites as needed
  • Additional duties as requested by management.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of manufacturing resource planning & material requirements planning.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Working knowledge of personal computer, keyboard, and various software programs.
  • Knowledge of various office equipment.
  • Knowledge of ISO9000 standards including ISO1345 and AS9100.
  • Basic knowledge of blueprint reading and geometric tolerancing.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

APICS certification is desirable.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; and walk.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
