Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Warehouse Supervisor manages the daily operations and performance of the shipping, receiving, stock room and subcontract teams to ensure a smooth, efficient, and cost effective operation that is consistent with the strategy and vision of the company.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Plans, coordinates and monitors the receipt, order fulfillment, and shipment of products.  Oversee the flow of material to subcontractors as well as all reverse flow back into the facility
  • Works with team in developing and maintaining warehouse and inventory areas for efficient material storage and handling.  Recommends and initiates improvements to warehouse layout, procedures, equipment, efficiency and working conditions.  Creates standard work for all procedures.
  • Conducts regular cycle counts of inventory and assists in conducting complete physical inventory as required.
  • Ensures proper trade compliance, including but not limited to, HTS codification of products, labeling standards, country of origin, duties and taxes etc. complying with all legal regulations
  • Helps to implement and/or improve WMS (warehouse management system), bar coding, RFID, serialization, batch identification, and other methods to improve material flow and traceability.
  • Work closely with the Planning and Procurement teams, Value Stream Managers, and Supply Chain Manager to ensure alignment on shipment priorities, schedules, and needs.
  • Liaise with transport companies to obtain optimal service, pricing, and dedicated support.  Expedite and arrange expedited shipments for Customers and Suppliers as needed.  Help to resolve delayed shipments and organization of alternative routes.
  • Provides training, support, direction and guidance to department personnel.  Initiates and creates a cross training program for the team to maintain a flexible workforce.
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations
  • Provides leadership and direction in the implementation of Lean processes.
  • Performs related duties as required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proven manager of people and processes
  • The candidate will have forklift experience and certifications
  • Knowledge of safety practices in a warehouse environment
  • Knowledge of warehouse management systems
  • Knowledge of inventory control and cycle counting processes

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred in related field.
  • 5 years leadership experience in a warehouse environment

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Well lighted, heated/or air-conditioned indoor office/production setting with adequate ventilation.
  • Light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of a primarily administrative nature.
  • Ability to maneuver throughout the facility/facilities as needed.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with fingers.
  • Ability to wear proper PPE.
